What bug is it?

During dinner clean up, L rushes excitedly into the house saying we need to come see the crazy Catepillar he found on the deck. I thought it might be one of the really hairy ones since I have seen those around. I head outside to investigate and soon come back into the house to excitedly tell Josh and Emma to come see!

Seriously, I think it's the largest Catepillar I have seen. Emma was excited because 'The Hungry Catepillar' is currently on her favorite book list. We even watched it eat a leaf which was interesting.

"...and then he wasn't hungry anymore..."

Josh guessed it might be a Luna moth and we tried to look it up online with no luck.

Tonight at bedtime Josh tells the kids he noticed a cocoon outside and it looked like a moth was coming out of it. We all rushed outside and found our Catepillar friend. He was a big moth!

A wonderful conclusion to bug week :-)
