October Fun

It's been a challenge to post, not only because of time, but my laptop just doesn't seem to like the task. Lately, it will overheat and shut down completely! Tonight, I  made the time and was able to load some pictures from our fall fun over the last few weeks. Like the saying goes, third times the charm! Yes, my computer froze and I had to log in again but sometimes you just have to try, try, try again.

And I am pretty sure that's one of the songs Emma learned from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, a cute PBS show that reminds me of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Each episode repeats a short little song that teaches a lesson and Emma loves to sing them. "You gotta try new food cause it might taste good" and "I like you, just the way you are"....are others that she sings almost daily!  Although Liam dislikes overalls quite strongly, Emma was determined to keep the striped ones. Those overalls encouraged a photo shoot and fun play time with the wooden train set!

I have been making any and everything that I can with pumpkin lately... pumpkin bread and muffins, pumpkins lattes (for me!), pumpkin pie bars, pumpkin waffles and pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin cupcakes and am thinking about trying pumpkin cinnamon rolls this week! Yay for pumpkin!

We brought the paint outside and the kids painted pumpkins while I carved one to harvest the seeds! They had so much fun painting that we will definitely have to do it again next year.

Ewwww, look at that, mommy!

Liam carved a pumpkin in his kindergarten class, tasted the roasted seeds and liked them! "You gotta try new food cause it might taste goooood!"

I love how the painted pumpkins turned out and harvested those seeds today so they are waiting for their turn to roast in the oven and become a delicious and healthy snack!

Emma kept painting and painting and painting...until her pumpkin was mostly grey! Patches the adventure cat stopped by to investigate and seemed pleased.

We were given two angry bird costumes last year and since that is still one of Liam's favorite games I made a blue bird and yellow bird costume. It was pretty easy on the scale of sewing difficulty. Liam has plans for his to become a pillow after trick or treating!

He had to practice his angry face! Emma never found hers!  We tried on the grown up costumes, black bird and king pig, but didn't get a good group picture this year.

I am already thinking of ideas for next year...wizard of Oz, Star Wars, Peter Pan or Smurfs! We'll all have to wait and see what we can agree upon and come up with next year!
