A walk down to the pier... some images from our beach week

I thought I'd be able to organize and get beach photos up before now but I took so many! Plus, it's summer and once we got home I jumped into cleaning the deck (which now seems ginormous) and gardening. I seem to be able to get in the garden every few days because we are having soooo much rain lately. In fact, as I type this the voices on NPR are discussing the hurricane season and what we may expect.

Let's get back to the beach! Brother and sister love the beach and I love it when they hold hands :)

Time for a silly picture!

Love this! I need to check back into my files, I know we took pictures like this under the pier with Liam when he was around 2 years old also.

I caught Liam doing his happy dance and singing his new original song....
"party at the beach"....

Wow, here I am in front of the camera  :)

It made me happy to see them having so much fun at the beach. Each day the beach was different: tide times, waves and currents, sand and shells. A wonderful reminder of how quiclkly life changes and also how we can learn so much by looking around. It was interesting how my attention changed as the days went by. At first I noticed the big picture, the waves crashing on the shoreline and how the ocean seems to go on forever into the horizon. Then, with Liam and Emma's help, we started to notice all of the little fish swinning by in the shallow water along the beach, we found beautiful seashells and small crabs. It's truly amazing how much life you can find around you when you really look.  The beach has always been one of my favorite places and it's wonderful to share it with Liam and Emma. Their reactions to the waves and expressions of joy are heartwarming, give them some water to splash in and they are happy, simple joys are priceless!

Emma likes to make up simple songs to... I overheard her running along the beach repeating...." oh beach, beach, yes yes yes, beach, beach, yes yes yes...."

I agree. The beach, yes!
